Boudoir Divas – Saving Time

One thing that we always like to emphasize during our workshops and while talking with other photographers is the need to SAVE TIME. It is crucial in this business to know that you are actually making a profit, and not simply working for seven or eight bucks an hour! We’ve all heard the old adage that ‘time is money’ – and the Boudoir Divas couldn’t agree more. If we can cut down on the time it takes for our studio to edit a photo shoot, to process an order, and to assemble & ship that order, then we are saving on the overall cost of our production – thus leaving more profit for our studio at the end of the day.

Over the past few years, we have really tried to focus on saving time in post-production specifically. When we were first starting out shooting boudoir, we used to take about a week to edit and proof our clients’ images. We would generally schedule a viewing session in our studio one or two weeks after their session, and they would come back in on that day to meet with us and select their images. But in recent years, we’ve completely changed things up – and now, we process our clients’ images immediately after their session. We do SAME-DAY viewings for each client, just one hour after they have just finished their photo shoot.

Same-day viewings have been such an important thing for growing our business. Not only do we cut down on our turn-around time, making the studio more profitable, but another added benefit has been the increased sales we’ve seen! We have found that our clients are extremely excited about the opportunity to view their images the same day, immediately after their shoot. Same-day viewings extend the session for our clients, which means their emotions are still invested in this entire experience, and as a result, they are more apt to upgrade their final product by adding images or getting a larger album.

We highly recommend same-day viewings to other portrait photographers, and challenge all of you out there to start training yourselves to get quicker at post-processing your sessions. Your clients will love seeing their photos on the same day… you will love the upselling opportunities… and in the end, you will save time – and money!
